Rust wipe schedules explained: weekly, biweekly and monthly

Rust servers wipe on different schedules, and choosing the right one changes how you play. Weekly, biweekly and monthly wipes compared, plus how force wipe fits in.

Every Rust server wipes, but not on the same schedule. How often a server wipes decides how long you have to build up, how much progress you lose, and how many fresh starts you get. Here is how the common schedules compare.

Weekly wipes

The map resets every week, usually on Thursday (the same day as force wipe, so the schedule lines up once a month).

  • Good for: players with less time, people who enjoy the early game, and anyone who likes a fresh start often.
  • Less good for: big projects. A week is not long to build up a large base and enjoy it.

Biweekly wipes

The map resets every two weeks. It is the middle ground: long enough to get properly established, short enough that the server does not feel settled and stale.

Monthly wipes

The map lasts the whole month, until force wipe resets it anyway.

  • Good for: large groups, long building projects and players who log in most days.
  • Less good for: casual players. On a monthly server, the people who played the first week are a long way ahead by the third.

Where force wipe fits in

Whatever its schedule, every server also wipes on force wipe, the first Thursday of every month, when Facepunch releases the monthly update. A weekly server simply has one of its weekly wipes on that day. A monthly server wipes only then. Our guide to when Rust force wipe is covers that night in detail.

Map wipes and blueprint wipes

Schedules usually describe the map wipe: bases and loot gone. Blueprints, the items you have learned to craft, are often wiped less often, typically only on force wipe. A server listed as "weekly, BP monthly" resets the map every week but lets you keep what you have learned until the monthly force wipe.

How to find a server's schedule

Most community servers put their schedule in the server name or description ("Weekly | Thu", "2x Biweekly"), and almost all of them announce wipes in their Discord. The server browser also shows when a server last wiped.

Which one should you play?

  • Little time, or love the early game: weekly.
  • A regular group with a few evenings a week: biweekly.
  • A big group playing most days: monthly.

Whichever you pick, wipe night is when the server is busiest, so expect a queue on any popular server.
